NHS Lothian are currently evaluating our request to purchase Belhaven Community Garden so that it is protected in the long term for the benefit of everyone living in the local area. We expect to hear their decision in July.
In the meantime, we are busy preparing an application to the Scottish Land Fund for a grant towards the purchase cost. This is more likely to be successful if we can demonstrate that we can match a grant with local crowdfunding.
We are therefore asking for (anonymous) pledges to indicate how much we are likely to be able to raise through a future crowdfunding campaign. If you are in a position to make a pledge (however small) then please do so NOW!
(We need to submit our application to the Scottish Land Fund in early June).
Note that making a pledge now doesn’t commit you to making a future financial contribution -at this stage it is just an expression of support. If our purchase request is successful we will start actual fund raising.
And we obviously realise that not everyone will be in a position to provide any financial contribution at all.
